How To Find Proven Buyer Keywords in Under 5 Minutes – 5 Simple Steps
One of the biggest lessons you can learn online is that not all traffic is equal. You can be getting 50,000 unique visitors a month to your website and make no sales and have nobody click on your AdSense links, sign up to your list or do anything else that might help make you some money.
On the other hand, you can be getting just 500 unique visitors to your site a month and make enough money to make a full time living.
The reason for this might be the niche you are in and how much you can potentially make per visitors, but it might also have a lot to do with the sort of keywords that you are ranking for.
Here I am going to show you how you can find proven, converting keywords, in less than 5 minutes.
Let’s get stuck in and unveil some great converting keywords in 5 simple steps.
Step 1:
Go to Spyfu.com and type in a buyer keyword in your niche. Now, the buyer keywords for one niche might be different to the buyer keywords for another; however, as a general guide, below are a few words that if you find them somewhere in the keyword search phrase, it might indicate that you have found a buyer keyword.
Cure
Stop
Fix
Purchase
Buy
Quit
Product name + Review (the name of a product you are selling)
To demonstrate how to do this I am going to use the acne niche and I am going to type in the keyword phrase “Cure Acne” into spyfu.

Step 2:
Next Look at the top PPC Domains for that keyword and choose one that has been regularly bidding on AdWords for this particular keyword.

Ideally you want want that has been bidding on this keyword continually for 6 months; however, it isn’t essential because what we will do next will bring out the “real proven” converting keywords.
You see, although I have typed in what I think is a decent potential broad buyer keyword – Cure Acne – I can see that it hasn’t got any of the top PPC Domains bidding on it every single month for the last 6 months. There are a number of potential reasons for this, which are beyond the scope of what I am teaching here, but just make a mental note of this because you might not want to be going after keywords like this.
What you want to see is consistent bidding on PPC for a keyword.
Anyway, back on point.
In this scenario I am actually going to choose Zenmed.com to have a closer look at, simply because I have used them in the past as an example (in other tutorials I have done) so it makes my life a little easier if I use them again.
If I was looking at this with totally fresh eyes and doing this for real I might actually go with one of the other domains such as: proactiv.com or b5clearskin.com.
Step 3:
Look at the Ten Best Paid Keywords for this domain. Look for consistent bidding because this indicates that this keyword is most likely converting.
If a domain has been bidding on a keyword for 5-6 months consistantly then they are most likely making money from it. These should be good converting keywords you can use organically, as long as you are offering something similar to what zenmed is offering. Offering something else might work, but chances are things will work better if you find an offer that aligns with theirs (or even offer exactly the same thing as they are)
As a free user spyfu shows you up to six months of data.
Notice the slight varying color rectangles representing each month. When the color changes this indicates that there has been a change in the Ad Copy for that month. You can click on any of the rectangles to actually view the Ad Copy that was used for that month. That could give you some great ideas for the kinds of copy that actually convert for this keyword.

Bonus Advice
If the domain name is a product producer like I know from previous research Zenmed.com is, then become an affiliate and use the keywords that are converting for them on PPC in the organic search.
You can also look at the “Paid Keywords” section just below because this because this section can also give you ideas for converting keywords. However, it is often better to stick to the “Ten Best Paid Keywords” section because you can see a clearer picture of history which is what really counts because it is what gives you a much better idea of “proven” instead of just guessed or test keywords.

Step 4:
One thing you might find though is that the keywords that are shown are going to be difficult to rank for organically because there is a lot of competition. In this situation, what you want to do is to go that little bit further than most people go and dig that little bit deeper into specific keywords.
So in our example I am going to pick out “Acne Scar Treatment” from the list of “Ten Best Paid Keywords for Zenmed”
Then I am simply going to go over to the Google Keyword Research Tool and plug it in as in the image below. I always make sue that I am logged into my adwords account so that I can get the maximum amount of keywords Google is prepared to show.

Using acne scar treatment as an example you can select what sort of search you want done and which results you want brought back to you.
Here’s a quick explanation of what I have selected and why:
1. I have typed in the main keyword “Acne Scar Treatment”
2. I have ticked “Only Show ideas closely related to my search term” the reason you want to do this, in this particular situation, is because from your research you have discovered that “acne scar treatment” appears to be a proven converting keyword; therefore, if there is to much SEO competition for that keyword and you need to dig deeper, you need to make sure that the results you bring back in the google tool are as closely related as possible to the main keyword of “acne scar treatment”. Once you start getting more broad and straying away from that main keyword then the chances of your new keyword converting are also potentially be getting smaller. Make sense?
On that note, also keep in mind that all this holds true as long as you are providing a similar solution to the keyword term “Acne Scar Treatment” as Zenmed is offering. If you stray to much from what they are offering, then again, your conversions will potentially be decreasing. We are basically trying to save as much time and effort as possible by following a proven success formula that someone has already shown us is getting results for them. Make sense?
Okay, back on track.
3. I have ticked “exact match”, in the left hand bar, because I am at the end of my keyword research when I am really trying to narrow it down to the real gems to target so I want to know exactly what people are typing into google and how many searches exactly those keywords are getting. If I was at an earlier stage of my keyword research then I might leave “phrase” or even “Broad” match ticked to just give me a general overview of the size of the niche and potential keyword angles to attack it from.
4. In locations and Languages I have selected United States (Because this is the Location I normally target and by selecting it here it means that the “local searches” that are brought back will be based around the United States. If you select another location then the “local monthly search” volumes will vary accordingly.) I have selected English for my language.
5. At the bottom right hand of the image you can see “filter ideas” this is a great place to filter the results that are displayed, that for some reason, most people don’t seem to use. So just as an example, you can see that I have told Google to only bring back results that have a “Local Monthly search” of >== 300 which means more than 300. All the main keywords brought back will have more than 300 Local Searches a month.
Depending on which stage of keyword research I am at or what the purpose of this particular round of keyword resarch is, I could vary these “filter ideas” sometimes I might tell Google to only bring me back results with more than 12,000, “Global Monthly Searches” or another time I might give it totally different instructions. Basically, it is pretty flexible and can suit whatever way you work. I find the filters pretty useful because it stops me from having to look through a bunch of keywords that irrelevent for my needs.
Below is an image of some keywords that are brought back when I do this particular search.

You would then need to check which of the keywords that are brought back are a close enough match to the orginal keyword that you think you can get some good conversions, when you offer the right product.
Depending on what you where selling or which affiliate product you where promoting, any of the above list might be fine. But just remember to have a double check of which type of products Zenmed (or whoever) is offering. Remember you are trying to closely align yourself with them because if they have proven conversions, by closely aligning yourself with them and their offer, you are taking as much guess work out of it as possible.
Step 5:
Finally you just need to analyze the competition for the keywords you have found.
Job done.
With a little bit of practise you should be able to do the above in under 5 minutes and still have time to run another check on a different keyword if the keyword you are checking is still coming up as having to much competition.
Hope that helps a least a few people
